Riocht
Hi You! Welcome to Ríocht devtest page. This is where I want to share prototypes of this game I'm working on.
Ríocht is an autobattler card game. The game hands you a few reshaped poker cards and one small square of ground, and everything you'll ever do happens before the first blow lands, no added cost to play the cards on your own grid.
Where each card goes? what it touches? what shape the whole board traces? That's the decisions you'll need to make while playing the game.
When you press Battle, your grid does the work without you. Cards firing on their own cooldowns, damage and armour and curses stacking, two engines racing to empty each other's health(Crown). You watch it play out knowing every number on screen is one you put there.
How it plays
Every card carries two kinds of worth: its stats, and its position.
Suit and rank set the numbers. Black cards attack, red cards defend, and no card ever does both, so every cell you fill is a cell spent on one half of the fight.
Position sets everything else. The cards a card sits beside, and the shape a group of five traces across the grid. Place the same five cards differently and you get a different engine.
Between battles you walk a branching path through shrines, stores and crucibles, burn the cards you don't want into Ashes to pay for the ones you do, bolt Improvements into their slots and, if the road gives it to you, make the grid bigger, because the largest shapes in the game simply cannot be drawn on a small board.
Take a hand, take a grid, and find out what you built.
Ríocht is in early development, please leave some feedback!
